John Myers I John Myers was born in 1801 in Maryland. He was a Tavern Keeper in the Richland Township in Venango County, Pennsylvania. John married Mary Hahn from New York about 1820. John was poisoned by his wife and a man named John Parker on January 22,1844 and he died. Mary and her associate were arrested. Mary and John Parker were tried for murder with the prosecuting attorney being John's own brother, Colonel James Stroble Myers. Mary and John Parker were convicted and sentenced to hang, but Mr. Parker soon escaped from Jail with the help of some friends leaving Mary to her fate. To complicate matters it was discovered that Mary was pregnant. Although she waited in a jail for some time facing the hangman's noose, it was decided eventually to release Mary. Mary moved to Clarion County, Pennsylvania and she lived there for a long time afterward. She married a man named Reese. One of her sons, Leander Myers, was killed during the Civil War at the Battle of Petersburg and Mary filed for his Pension.
