At the age of twenty-one he was a Corporal in Cromwell's Army. In 1648 Richard's outfit was moved to Ireland. Here he met and married Elizabeth Jackson. In 1665 Richard and Elizabeth were converted to the Quaker faith; thereafter he was imprisoned for being Quaker. Richard died in prison, April of 1668, at the age of forty-one. He was the first Friend interred in the Friend's burial ground located outside the South Gate, Cork, Ireland. Issue of Richard and Elizabeth Pike: 1. Elizabeth Pike, M. Henry Weddon 2. Joseph Pike, b. Nov. 15, 1667, d. 1729 3. Ebenezer Pike 4. Richard Pike Jr. 5. Sarah Pike 2.
