Heinrich Fredrick Kuester H. F. KUESTER, proprietor of the Fourth Ward Meat Market, is a native of Germany, and came to this country in the year 1852. He settled in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he remained until 1878, when he came to Manistee County, Michigan and opened his present market, at the corner of First and Cypress Streets, where he has built up an excellent business. He has a family consisting of a wife and four children. -History of Manistee, Mason & Oceana Counties, Michigan, Illustrated. Published 1882 by H.R. Page & Co., Chicago Heinrich F. and Dora Kuester Heinrich Kuester was my Great-Great-Grandfather and he and his wife had eight children according to Census Records. We now know the names and birth dates of six of the children. Their daughter Anna married Richard Myers, my Great-Grandfather. Heinrich evidently went by his middle name Fredrick or Fred as was the old German Custom. He is listed as Fredrick or Fred in the census records and in the other records as H.F. H.F. Kuester was a Butcher by trade and seems to have had a sucessful business. In 1885 H. F. sold some property in Michigan and it may have been at this time that he and the family moved back to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, because the family is listed in Milwaukee in the 1900 Census. Anna and Richard were my Father's Grandparents. This is a picture of Anna and five of her six children: Irma, Charles, Richard, Felix (my Father's Father) and Max. The child not shown is John Henry Myers (Jack) who was born in 1908. Judging from the ages of the children (Max is the baby in Anna's lap). This picture was taken about 1894 (Max was born in 1894).
